Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 1am (CDT), 12am (MDT) for areas south of HWY 92. Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue during the evening hours with the main threat being large hail, in fact I’ve already have had quarter size hail reports coming out of areas south and west of North Platte. There’s still an outside chance of a tornado, but as we head into the night I think our tornado chances will be diminishing. But still remember severe thunderstorms sometimes produce tornados with out little warning.
As we move into the overnight I think will become a heavy rain threat. Also look for the wind to pick up during the overnight. By Friday morning; winds could be screaming out of the northwest up to 20-30 mph and may gust up to 50mph. Also (not what you want to hear) but a few snow flakes may mix in with the rain north of HWY 2.
Stay tuned to news 2 for the latest weather updates.
