A Sunny and Hot Weekend On The Way

The day dawned mostly cloudy across Greater Nebraska today, but sunshine finally won out but not until mid-afternoon in North Platte. Regardless, highs reached the upper 80’s to middle 90’s, though low humidity made these reading feel a bit more comfortable in most areas.

Tonight will be clear and pleasant with lows from the upper 50’s to lower 60’s.
Both days of the weekend will feature clear, sunny skies, and all areas will see highs into the 90’s, and even well into the 90’s to close to or over 100 in a few spots. Humidity will remain low on Saturday which is good news, and a light southwesterly breeze will keep it from getting too uncomfortable. However, strong southerly winds on Sunday could gust up and over 30mph at times, and humidity will creep upward a bit so it may be a bit more uncomfortable outside.

Regardless, use caution outside, especially if you will be out for extended periods. Use plenty of sunscreen, drink lots of water, and have easily accessible ways to keep cool, such as a lake, pool or air-conditioning.

It will still be sunny and very warm on Monday, but an approaching cool front will spark a few very late day thunderstorms. By Tuesday, highs will be in the much cooler upper 70’s to lower 80’s with sunshine.
