Hot conditions are on the way for the entire state, Tuesday is July 1st and it is going to feel like it! 100+ temperatures not out of the question in southwest Nebraska to the panhandle. Elsewhere mid to upper 90s will be common. This will most likely be the hottest day of the year. Please use caution if you will be working out side during the afternoon Tuesday, wear light colored clothes and drink plenty of water.

A stray storm may pop up in the panhandle in the late afternoon, but otherwise most of the state will remain dry. There is a better chance on Tuesday night and on Wednesday of storms, some storms maybe severe.

We cool down a touch on Wednesday and Thursday, with a cold front slowly moving through the area. We will still run the chance of t-storms on those days also.

4th of July into the weekend it will be sunny and hot with a chance of t-storms.

A quiet weekend in store for the area, highs will be in the 80s with lows in the 50s.

Scattered t-storms will continue through the overnight Thursday, some storms maybe severe with large hail and damaging winds. Lows will be in the 60s and a much cooler day is on tap for Friday with highs only in the 80s. There is a 20% chance of a storm Friday afternoon.

A severe t-storm watch is in effect for Blaine, Cherry, Grant, Hooker and Thomas counties until 4am (cdt) 3am (mdt). The storm prediction centers main concern through early Thursday AM is a storm complex moving out of northwest Nebraska and southwest South Dakota. Some of these storms maybe capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. Severe t-storms sometimes produce tornados with out warning.

Strong to severe t-storms are possible across greater Nebraska through the overnight Wednesday. Some storms maybe capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain, in addition an isolated tornado can not be ruled out, especially along the stationary boundary near HWY 2. Lows Wednesday night will be in the mid to upper 60s. Highs will be hot on Thursday, maybe even approaching the 100 mark in Southwest Nebraska.

We also run the risk of another round of storms Thursday afternoon and night. I think there is a better chance for severe weather on Thursday versus Wednesday and a cold front pushes through the area. Once the front clears on through, it will cool down a touch and dry out with highs on Friday afternoon only in the 80s.

Saturday and Sunday look dry, with highs in the upper 80s. Our next chance of rain comes on Monday.

Slight chance of some storms Tuesday night, lows will be in the 60s. There is a slight chance of severe weather from west of a line of Valentine to Ogallala. We keep the chance of storms in the forecast through possibly early Friday AM. Each day we have a slight chance of severe weather. We also turn up the heat. High will be in the low to mid 90s.

Strong to severe t-storms will be moving through the area through 1am. Some could produce large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain.

At first I didn’t think the tornado threat would an issue tonight, but the NWS in Denver has put out a few tornado warning tonight in northeast Colorado. Just be alert though 1am, sometimes severe t-storms produce tornados with out little warning.
